BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- China will hold its first international seed expo in Shengyang in the northeast Liaoning Province this September, according to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

To be held on Sept. 10 to 12, the expo aims for better international exchange in the seed industry, said Wan Baorui, chief of the CCPIT-specialized sub-council of agriculture, the expo organizer.

About 500 domestic and foreign seed enterprises are expected to exhibit seeds and seedlings. These include cereal crops, cotton and vegetables, related technology and machinery, as well as agro-chemicals, Wan told a press conference here on Tuesday.

The expo also features an industry summit and a series of seminars and conferences, he said.

China has the world's second largest seed market, behind only the United States, according to Ministry of Agriculture.
