Main Mandate of Department of Market Operation Regulation

The main functions and responsibilities of the Department of Market Operation Regulation are as follows:

(1) To draft laws and regulations concerning market operation, formulate and organize the implementation of relevant rules and standards.

(2) To supervise domestic market operation and supply and demand of important commodities. To be responsible for market forecast, early warning and information release. To study and put forward policy suggestions on market operation and regulation and be responsible for addressing key issues in relation with market operation.

(3) To organize the execution of regulation and control of key consumer product market and the regulation of the circulation of important means of production. To be responsible for the storage, market supply, substitution and processing of such state reserves as meat, sugar, tea, etc., and for the work in relation with the construction of storehouses for the state reserves.

(4) To guide the “Three Green Projects”, to provide industrial guidance to and regulate the circulation of the “Vegetable Basket” products, and to be in charge of regulating the pig slaughtering industry.

(5) To guide and coordinate the production and sale of alcoholic products. To formulate and organize the enforcement of policies concerning alcoholic product management.

(6) To draw up the planning and relevant policies for the cocoon and silk industry, coordinate the industry development, organize efforts in expanding domestic and foreign market, and organize the state filature silk storage.

(7) To undertake other assignments given by the ministerial leaders.
